Hi all,
I've been struggling for a while with a '98 Uno Fire 1108.
About three months ago on a longish(40km) journey the car stops dead. Will not start. Get starter noise and she turns over but wont kick to life, it has happened before and a change of the ignition module(the one mounted to the distributor) sorted it out (was about 2 years ago). So tow it to a mech who diagnoses the same problem, we replace the module and she runs fine for 3 days and then death... not starting again. Tow it home, and pray that its not the module again. Next day still wont start.
So far replaced the fuel filter, the fuel pump had the immob removed(it freaked out and locked the car down a while ago so just took the bloody thing out),new air filter, sourced a complete distributer with module and replaced the coil.
I've had four different people look at it and it still wont start.
Finally worked out that there is no current running from the coil to the distributer, so I need to check that there is the correct signal running into the coil but I have no idea what the signal on the three cable running into the coil are supposed to be.
And yes it has gas and no the battery is not flat.(get asked that often.)
If any one has any ideas at I'd be much appreciative...
I'd really like to get it running again and not burn it to ground out of frustration.

The symptoms sound as if the ignition module is overheating despite being replaced. This sounds like a possible earth problem, plus you need to check the wires from the module that go inside the distributor. The outer insulation can sometimes wear/ chaff causing them to short. Try running an extra earth wire from the distributor to the battery and see if that makes a difference. If it does, then it is most likely to be an earth problem.

Good luck :)

Thanks a lot man. Will take a look at that this weekend.
