hi guys, need some help with this one, as not sure the gargage nows what they think they do.
i have 2 problems, well maybe 3.
the first and the worrie one, when my stilo abrth is cold, it smokes bad, not on tick over but when you rev it, or pull away at revs, the smoke looks like it is oil (blue) (grey) .. not black. it has no history with the car, and ive only had for a short while about 3 months. i havent done many miles since i have had it. and its done 32k. once it warms up, it is fine. the garge said suspect head gasket ?? im not so sure. its using no water, no oil/water contamination, they say its oil leaking in the exhaust ?? would a compresion test pick this up ?

i also had the oil presure low warning come up, and toped the oil up, as it was low. this has been ok since, the garage told me it needs a new oil pump, @ £800.. you guessed . i laughed, i after reading lots on here, i dont think the pump has gone, but any advice would be wecolmed,

the other is it has used a litre of oil in 500 miles, will it do this if its driven hard.
this weekend, i intend to change the oil filter and oil, air filter, just in case its over fueling as its nopt getting the right mixture, and probly change the gear box oil.

i have to get her sorted as she is so much fun

Sounds like it has been run without oil. If the low oil pressure light is on, the engine is not getting any oil and will damage itself very quickly.

Also low oil pressure can be a precursor to it spinning a bearing, which usually makes them a write off and not worth fixing.

no the oil low presure did only come on, then once oil topped up, it has been ok, since. no more warning.

I had this when I had a Golf MkIV 1.6; it was due to worn stem seals. The symptoms were exactly the same, plumes of smoke when starting from cold but nothing once it had warmed up. There was also no water loss or mayo.

If it smokes (blue-grey) when you put your foot on the throttle most likely rings or scored cylinders. If it smokes after you take your foot off the throttle ie on the over-run it is most likely stem seals.

Oh just had a thought, you say you drive it hard, does it have an induction kit on it, sometimes this can cause excessive oil consumption by sucking more oil up the crankcase breather.

?? it only does it while its cold . after warm up, it is ok.

hey people, im still looking for answers, i checked my plugs today, and they are heavey sooted, i changed them about 3 weeks ago for iridum ones, no wet or wet oil, just sooted ?

I had this with my Bravo 1.4 12v it used a good amount of oil throught the valve steam oil seals.

If you want to go down that route pull the pre cat lambda and give it and the connections a clean.

Have you checked for any error codes?
i had them run that at the garage, but only said about the oil presure low, but since i toped back up with oil, its been ok ??
