Yes, the plastic cover can be replaced, but it will be replaced by an aftermarket fascia, not the original Fiat trim.
Radio fascia also called dash fascia, fascia panel, or trim bezel.
No, this is wrong and might confuse the OP.
The
AA VIXA would appear to be a monitoring device that plugs into the OBD port and remains there permanently; I believe it then pairs with a smartphone app via bluetooth. You pay a monthly subscription and it supposedly monitors various parameters in real time. I've no experience of one, and know nothing more about it than what I've read online.
The OP isn't talking about the radio bezel. He's talking about the pull away cover panel that goes in front of the OBD port.
He's concerned that there might not be enough space behind the panel to replace it after the device has been plugged in.
There's not much information available online about the dimensions of the VIXA plug in module (though there are plenty of negative reviews, something the OP might like to consider). So we need to find someone who has actually fitted one of these into a 500 to confirm whether or not the panel can be put back afterwards. It would also be helpful if they could confirm how well it works in this specific car, and whether it provides useful information.
There's no aftermarket alternative to this panel (I'd call it the "
Diagnostic port cover panel") if there isn't enough clearance. So it can either be refitted, or it can't (we don't know yet) - there's no other way round this. Running without this panel long term could potentially result in a knee injury in an accident - and it would spoil the appearance of the interior considerably.
@Cariadbach, if you do go ahead with this, it'd be really appreciated if you could come back and tell us how you are getting on with it.
