not everyday but every so often i get ," spanner and 2 day" warning light. i was supposed to be sevice when i got the car 2 weeks ago. does it need reseting or putting out and can i do this?

You probably need the big service, and that might be the reason why the car was sold exactly before the warning. Do a service, change whatever needs to be changed, including the oil, and sleep well, 'cause the most important parts will be brand new.
