General A slight detour...

Whilst using the sat nav to route me to Shepperton Marina a couple of weeks back that nice lady from Turin asked me to turn off the M3 at a roundabout near Woking, then redirected me to rejoin the M3 directly... did she know something I didnt ????

Anyone else had this or similar ?
Suppose I should talk to Navtech...

Nice lady from Turin? Lol. Which one? Too many to name.

I presume you were using the Follow Me function. Only ever used it once, but then I only need car at weekends.

I know the SatNav sometimes goes a bit askew, so I still tend to follow my nose and let it re-direct. Local or some knowledge always prevails in my eyes.

I once had something like this going from the M6 onto the M62 towards Liverpool - there is an interesting junction layout, and the nav system took me off the M6, onto the M62, immediately off on the sliproad for the M62 exit 10, then straight back on to the M62 again! Common sense prevaled and I just stayed on the M62!!!!

Mind you, I was talking to a colleague today and his BMW factory fitted nav system took him on an interesting 5 mile detour around Birmingham because it had an error on an enterance to a side-street off one of the many one-way roads! [)]
