General A Sad Day : RIP

im not kidding you, i work in a scrap yard and we had a punto come in with some pretty bad crash damage to the rear end. i actually use the car as a mobile tool cabinet and to drive around in at work its main job is use as a test vehicle to see just how much abuse a fire engine can take.. just to note that it is a 1.2 punto mk2.

from ice cold (frost on top of engine as no bonnet) start and instant red line till up to temp (as its cold and i want heat lol), stalling it to stop it as it has the key snapped off in the ignition.. everything i can think of to kill an engine (without physically damaging the engine or contaminating the oil) yet it still runs sweet as anything. the car already has 203k on it and a timing belt that looks like a fishing net its that old. if its in the way it gets pushed or picked up by the forklift. had it for 3 and a half months like this.. besides more dents it still drives great! not even any engine management lights!

only thing i have had to do was swap the radiator and relocate it inside where the rear seats are. fork truck punched a hole right through it when we tried to set the air bags off.

they are damn good engines...

Thank god it was only the alternator eh! I had to change the one in my Fizz a few weeks ago, did it the day before heading down to Haynes and it all went fine. Mine went slowly and made an odd sound for a while so I noticed it before it died, sounds like you were unlucky and had it seize straight up though. Good luck with the fix mate, you'll have her back on the road in no time!
