I have just had the privlege of trying to install a ripspeed dv740 into my punto evo. I pulled the stereo fascia out and the case with the hazards light out. After loseing two screws down the dash I find that the black block for all the wires has a wire point that the headunit doesent. Drive all the way to halfords to see if there is a cable I can buy to sort it. Turns out there is not a cable. As it should be a straight fit so booked it in for the spotty teen to try and prove me wrong! Anyone else had this problem? Solutions would be thanked alot. Thank you.

Likely the extra wire from the car loom will be for the steering controls (brown in a Grande IIRC so assume it'll be the same in the Evo). Did it work or not?
No there is no power at all in the black block you have 8 wires for the speakers then three more for what I assume is power/earth/ and another but I dont no what it would be. Thats the block for the car. For the stereo theres two of the three connected but the third is connected to nothing. So that one could be power on egnition.

You have pluged the red into the spare yellow on the HU loom havnt you?
he tested the volts in the plug and the volts drop from 12 to under 4 when I start the car so I have booked it in. To fiat for a diagnostic test. Maybe I could be a design feature so u cant change headunit
That could just be the Can Bus wire for coding the original Head Unit. Are you sure you tested the Positive with your multi meter?
You'll be wasting your money asking FIAT to look at it (because they'll probably charge £30 just for the test), very rarely is there anything wrong with the wiring loom these days, and even less likely if your OE headunit worked fine (I assume it did?). You'd be much better served asking either a proper ICE installer (not Halfrauds 'cos they're rubbish) to look at it, or someone from the forum who is local with experience in these sorts of things.
My friend who is a Pro installer is about 30 minutes from you. I am around tonight but am about 50 miles from you. I could meet you at medway services or something (25 miles) and have a look. I dont have all of my tools on me though.

Thank you for your kind suggestions but im decorating this evening for new sofa tomorrow. Yer the original head unit still works. And the test is free because the cars in warranty. I will take it to a proper ice installer as suggested. Maybe next time your down we could meet and you could take alook if its not sorted by fiat. Thanks

My car is in Herefordshire having a new engine put in lol. She will be back early Jan. Sound Quality is often a hard concept to concieve until you here it.
