General A newbe who needs your help

I just bought ( ebay) a 1974 X1/9 which has been set up for autocrossing and I need to bring it home. I need to know the length of the car bumper from bumper and the width of the car from one tip of the bumper to the other. I hoping it will fit on my 6.5'X 12' trailer. If not I'll have to rent a car dolly. Thanks ahead of time and I'm looking foward to being a rugular around from now on...

The workshop manual I have only has figues for the 1500, but they are :
156.3" long (~13ft) x 61.8" wide (~5ft 2").

I don't think it would be a problem to fit a 74 onto your trailer.

Dont think dollies are legal now. Seemly they have disappeared of trailer rental sites.

Thanks for the info guys. I've decided to trade in my smaller trailer for a tadem car hauler. The salesman made me a good deal. Now all I have to do is drive the 300 miles to pick it up tomorrow.

ALAN D still uses a dolly and he is a policeman so i reckon they are ok.

A frames are illegal as any car over 750kg must use a braked trailer.
You can only use an A frame to tow in an emergency. See attached link.
