A little stereo help, please.

Hi, i know im new to the forum's and this is my first post, but i was wonderin if anyone can help me please, a few week's ago i became the proud owner of a 2010 Grande Punto, already havin a load of stereo equipment from my previous car, i was ready to install it only to find that it's a CANBUS connection and not an ISO, so after trawling through these forums and the internet, i found out to create a live connection from the cigarette light, i have now done that, but i still don't seem to be gettin any power to the HU, i've tried it in another car and it work's fine and power's on, jus not in mine, anybody have any advice at all please? thank you in advance.

some additional info if it helps...

i bought a harness adapter from halford's with the long red cable to wire to cigarette light, in the cig light i had black, yellow and red/grey cable, i spliced the red/grey cable, plugged it all up and nothin, i plugged my phone charger in and that work's fine, plugged my old stereo up and that work's fine, but it's jus not powerin my Pioneer up, all the wires connect, i've changed the red/yellow connectors over on back of head unit and made no difference.

Anybody have anythin? anythin at all? i've jus been out and cut the yellow wire and tried that but still nothin? i've tried with ignition on/off, but not getin a thing.
The last thing i can think of is removin the harness adapter and havin my cable plug direct to car, cuttin the power cable off the harness and tryin to wire it directly into my 12v line in back of headunit?
