I recently took my car into a garage to get serviced and he told me that the cylinder compression was uneven and that cylinder 2 was very low.

i arranged to get it sorted out a week later but have been driving around a bit since, until last night.

the car overheated a stalled a few times on the way home and nearly causes me to crash because of the power steering stopping. Anyways there is a leak in the radiator and it is empting as soon as i fill it.

Im taking the car in the garage tomorrow to hopefully get sorted, do you think i will need a new radiator or can it be fixed with radiator cement? It only seems to be 1 section leaking.

Another thing is that since it stalled a few times the code warning has come up on the dash when I start the car, what does this mean, it doesnt seem to do anything.

Whats the worst case scenario in the case do you reckon? New radiator, seroius engine damage? Could the overheating caused it to seize? how much could this cost at worst?

BTW its a 1.4s

Thanks alot, any info is appreciated.

it sounds like it might be a gonner if you dont want to throw alot of cash at it. Likely head skimming, nes HG, and a replacement radiator.

all the warning lights should come on briefly when you start it, and then go out.
Is one staying on, and if so can you describe it?
It'll probably be a warning to tell you its broken down, lol. it'll get reset when you get all the repairs done. probably.

the only light staying on the one that says Key Code or something like that.

How much do radiators usually cost to get replaced anyway? And what does "nes HG" mean?

thanks for your reply

Head Gasket needs skimming. lol. its late, excuse my typing.
You can lok up parts like radiators on the likes of buypartsby and shop4parts...

By skimming do you mean replaceing, could the overheating have causes it to warp?

And do radiators always need replacing, I was kinda hoping it could be welded or cemented or something.

Any idea why the code warning light has come on too?

Thanks alot for your replys

regarding skimming.

its required if the engine has overheated as it may as you say, warped the head slightly so will need to be made completely flat again to make a good seal.

Radiators can also be classed as a consumable item after a few years, the channels tend to get clogged if its not been serviced properly in the past and doesn't cool properly.

I know this as my girlfriends corsa had a clogged up and leaking radiator and had it replaced along with having her HG done.
