hey this is the first time i've posted a nu thread any response will be happily recieved...

i got my side skirts through from ebay, joy tuning, the other day... i have an  idea  of how i,m goona fix them on. drill some holes, screw on where the wheel arch is, bit of no more nails to keep em flush

BUT (n) i'm not to sure how to paint them though. i was gonna buy some metallic silver paint from halfrauds:nutter: but i'm not too sure about what to do with priming, etc...

i am bit of a student bum i haven't got too much cash so i'm bit weary bout a garage...

silver seicento on the up

The only way to get a good finish is to prepare well.

Use a medium grit wet and dry, about 600, and using wet, sand down the each skirt until they are smooth and of dull appearance.

Make sure they are dry, warm and dust free and use plastic primer, grey if the car is silver.

Plenty of thin coats allowing the paint to 'flash off' in between coats. This is when the shiny look of the paint goes away.

Then take a 2000 grade wet 'n' dry and using wet and with a block behind it on the flat areas, gently sand the skirts smooth. Although they won'y be 'shinee' they need to be really smooth.

Silver colour coat next, again thin coats, then gentle sand, 2000 paper with soap, then clear laquer top coat, again thin coats.

Finish with used 2000 paper with soap, and then a cutting compound for 'shineeeeeee'

Cheers

ghost, are the joy skirts u got the replica abarth ones or the new styleee ones? what do they look like offered up? cus i want sum but dunno if to go for abarth for jap mesheee styleeee?

I got the 3 go faster hole version :p

the only problem i found when offered up is it trys to lean away from car a bit but hopefully when i fit them the sealant will stop them leaning away from car and keep in shape :D :p
pics on forum somewhere i think

Have pics again when they finally get fitted next week :D

i've primed up the skirts with grey primer, needed a couple more coats thou...

got some silver spray from halfrauds, so they will be good to go in a couple of days.

i've had a look at fixing them on, there are no screws by the front wheel arch, and i don't want to risk just sticking them on...

i think i saw a seicento with them on in here, was it ghostWKD??

any advice on how to put them on would be great...

thanx...

righty o, ive got my skirts and spoiler coming, im gonna follow instructions of plastic primer, sand down, spray with colour couple of coats n laquer etc, and got tube of tiger seal today, when i come round to putting skirts and spoiler on how shud i use the tiger seal? shud i put bead bout inch away from edges and then offer up and use masking tape to hold em on?

if so, how long am i gonna be without a car to drive until it sets and i can drive it?

You idiot Spacers should only ever be used to make wheels fit to the correct vehicle offset for example vehicle offset of 29mm with 39mm offset wheels then 10mm spacers should be used but fitting 32mm spacers to normal wheels is just asking for trouble

I cannot stress enough how dangerous spacers are they are deadly when not use for the proper purpose if you wnat wide arches buy wide wheels and the car must handle like a right bag of ****
