I am in the process of buying my dream car (99 T marea 155 20v hlx full leather trim 23k) however 1 thing worries me, it only has a red key and 1 blue key. the alarm and central locking are controlled by the blue key ultrasonics i think, can i get a spare blue key as im sure there are supposed to be two...not forgetting that its not a standard blue key, but the one with the alarm control....if so how much will it cost.
I cant believe people could be stupid enough to lose such an important key!! and I dont want to be stuck with only 1 key to operate the alarm incase it breaks down.
help apreciated

ps im told servicing is really expensive, it has full fiat history should i try and keep to fiat service?

This Is Big Brother

Amma...please come to the Diary Room.... Big Brother reminds Amma that any form of communication with the outside world is strictly forbidden, and as such, requests that Amma leaves the Big Brother House immediately.

Keys

I have just bought a 98R Bravo HGT with only one key, a blue one. I was unaware of the cost of having no red key...nightmare.
You on the other hand have no problem at all. As far as I know you can get duplicate transponder keys (blue) for about £20 or £30. Just don't lose the red one or it will cost 900 bats upwards!!
I have read articles on here and found that servicing seems to be exprnsive, i'm not gona bother with Fiat and just go to somewhere like Halfords instead.
Hope this helps,
Smithy.

not just ordinary blue keys

the blue keys on the HLX are not the standard blue keys they also have the press button which switches off the alarm and operates the central locking built into them. That is why im worried about only having one.
cos if that knackers how will i switch off the alarm?

Blue keys

yeah my blue key is the same, with the button that works the alarm and the locking. As far as I know you can still key spare keys made that will control the whole lot. To turn alarm off without blue key use the speacial little alarm key that you should have. On my HGT the switch for the alarm is behind a panel on the right hand side of the steering wheel.
Smith lad.

Blue Keys are around £80 from FIat's

Or you can go to a key cutting place and get a generic one programmed for about £30.

The RED key is the most important.
Yeah the Blue keys turn the alarm on and off and open the door's, but it's only a little transponder.

One of my Blue keys stopped working and Fiats charged me £68 just for the PCB inside, no replacement key, purely the electronics !!!

Fiat can supply key

Amma, do not worry, people being people lose things all the time. What might seem important to you isd not important to someone else.
Anyway go to your Fiat dealer and the key can be done for about £30. Well woth it. Servicing at Fiat is expensive and most of the time not needed. With used car prizes falling through the floor then a full service history is not worth much these days unless you are planning to sell you car in the very near future. As long as you know that the car is servcied then a good local garage will suffice and save you money. Use the dealerships for specialist knowledge when you have too and all will be well with the world.
Have fun with you car

John
