I have a '87 uno 45 (999cc) fire with carburator
the gear selectors runs under the car (not through the firewall)
I'm planning to keep this type of selector, with 5gears.
My gearbox is making strange sounds, is it possible to mount a UT gearbox?

Note: The Uno turbo tranny is a bolt on fit to the FIRE engines.

Is there a bolt on for the drive shafts? or what the?

Hi i have not read the link you poster, i think he means that the box will bolt to a fire engine, but you will most likely have problems with the fire gear selectors? Will probably be different under car selectors from an uno turbo than a standard uno 999cc would have. And the top change uno turbo boxes are said to be stronger. But with a 999cc i think you'll be ok lol.

Why go for turbo gear ratios? The 999cc will surely struggle won't it? You don't have the torque or bhp of the 1.4 let alone a 1.4 turbo or 1.3. Either way, the 999cc will struggle to pull with higher geared teeth.

But i don't know what ratios an uno 999cc box has compared to a 1.3/1.4 box.

Also the uno turbo driveshafts would have to be ised as uno 999cc boxes use wet cups and uno turbo, x1/9 and tipo gearboxes use dry cups i think
