Hello everyone, just joined the forum in the hope of finding out why my electric roof won't work, it was operating correctly the last time I used the car, 3 years ago.
Everything else is OK and just waiting to get it MOT'D.
I guess it's either the handbrake safety switch or the 2 hood safety switches that are stuck/seized but I don't know where they are physically located so I would be grateful for any help.

Thanks.

Can you hear the motor at all when you press the buttons to open the hood?
You might also want to check your relays near the pump.

Thanks for the reply, there is no response from the switch but it appears to be working and clicks in both directions, I have removed the relays and checked the condition of the contacts and they are all clean and dry with no corrosion or deterioration. I have opened the valve on the hydraulic pump and can operate the hood manually and everything works as it should.
The 40a fuse is fine.
From what I remember the ignition has to be switched off with the handbrake on in order for the hood to operate with vehicle stationery, I have tried it both in and out of gear in case there is a switch on the gearbox.
It seems that there is no power getting to the pump?
Are there any more interlocks that I have missed?

Are you trying to open the roof with ignition off?
It should be ON of course, or switch before starting the car.

From what I remember, if your handbrake is not up, you should still hear a click of a relay or some kind of sound but I'm not really sure.

I have tried it with the ignition on but still no response, but I am fairly sure from what I remember that the ignition has to be off.
With handbrake up or down there are no clicks whether the ignition is on or off?
I do not have a handbook to refer to for the information.

Sounds like an electrical problem.
Ignition should be ON of course, Pump should get 12V.
Check around the pump, it should have a 2-pin connector. check that it's connected.
Also, if you have a voltmeter, check it's getting 12V.

On mine I changed the bottom relay which wasn't working.
Don't know if you can check a relay only by a corrosion.

Thanks again, apologies for the delay in replying I had to go out. I will try that tomorrow if I get a chance, the forecast is for rain.
