hello sure this has done the rounds before does anyone know if a cinq 899cc will fit and rrn in a 850, the head is the same sure the 899 rotates clockwise instead of anti? can this be got around? thanks dave

Hi Massa
apart from the injection system on the 899, theres no hole for a distributor to fit on the head, the water pump mounting is different slightly but this can be got over, the oil seals are all for the wrong rotation, to reverse the rotation you either fit timing gears instead of the timing chain or you have to fit an 850 camshaft and oil drive gear to suit, some people turn the pistons round if you have a gudgeon pin offset within the piston.
so it can be done but its likely you will come accross issues along the way, but 39hp 899cc hopefully your looking to fit it in a saloon.
my first reverse rotation was a seat 127 engine in an 850 spyder in 1992 just by fitting the 850 cam and oil drive gear, currently running an a112 reversed in a lombardi, it was by using drive gears but recently converted it to run a timing chain and 850 camshaft/drive gear.
if your looking to do this instead of rebuilding an 850 engine then the 850 engine rebuild will be quicker
