Hello again people ok i need your advice, i bought my 1995 55 S (1.1) punto a few weeks back and it had 86200 miles on it ive done another 200 miles on it and was wondering how much would a service be because i would want nearly everything having a look at just to make sure its ok... its had a recent new oil filter, oil change and cam cover gasket due to an oil leak.

I know a timing belt change is top of my list as i dunno when the last was.

I'm based in the birmingham area...
 
well i think its around £150 for the belt(obviously depends on local prices)but you should do the tensioner at the same time. the 1.1 is a safe engine though.
why not look into doing it yourself with the help of a haynes manual?even if you have to buy tools it will be cheaper to do it yourself

i dont have a clue about cars but im enthusiastic! so i might (y)
 
You should be able to find a good local garage (one that set's up rally cars and competition cars is always going to know whats what) they should charge £60-100 inc parts labour and VAT for the belt AND tensioner (comes as a kit = £17.50inc VAT).

You could pick up a manual for a tenner. And you'll need a sump bolt kit, as the oil drain plug on mine gets in soo tight, that'll cost a tenner too. and will bolt into your 1/4" or 1/2" socket set. Other than that a chain whip (or screwdriver, but its messy) will cost about £3 from wilko's. Job Done.

a garage will charge something like £40-60 for a service (oil filter, air filter, decent oil, plugs, engine flush etc) inc VAT.
 
I was quoted £79 for belt and tensioner change and £70 for service does this sound good?
