hi all just whant to no r mk2 punto 8 valve enginge ok been reading some reviews i have just got a 52 plate and it seems to run A OK :slayer:

They are fine, its a 1.2 so no ball of fire, the 16valvers are better in that respect, but the 8valvers are "safe" engines in that if the cam-belt slips or breaks there is no damage to valve gear.

Hi yer i have owned a MK2b 8v for the past 6months and had no problems. Tends to be just people who have had bad experiences who put posts not people who have had no problems. It does not help that fiat do not exactly have a good press.

i have a 1988 8v fire in my panda and it still runs fine 22 years later, same engine as yours just a little smaller

yes thanks this is my first punto .seems a great car but feels a little to light on moterways and no the city butten is not on
i love my little 8 valve punto
its no rocket which is a good thing for a first car insurance is relatively cheap and its easy to maintain
