Just found a F reg mk1 70SX parked at the roadside in a back street in a small town near to me. Need to find out more about this - it looks pretty tidy superficially at least. Worth pursuing if it's for sale ?

Would also make my Panda a nice playmate.....

Don't forget to check under the sides of the floor - check for 'crunchy' carpet in the boot on the suspension turrets, check the front suspension turrets too (under the bonnet) - the top of the sills under the door rubber - any other rampant rust under doors and windows will be fairly obvious :)

If it is all tidy then it will be a nice find, probably quite a bit more luxury than a Panda!

The Mk1 1301cc is a little prone to becoming smoky with age but can be rebuilt with new rings and valve stem seals. The early gearboxes are prone to synchro wear particularly on third gear. Neither of these is a deal-breaker, bodywork condition is far more important.

True enough - experience suggests that Unos are much more soluble than Pandas. It might make a nice aside to my Panda 4x4 on the odd day when I'm feeling the need for a change...at the moment that has to be the wife's Bravo
1.6mjet (me no likee - too many electroprob bits !!)

By the way does the 70SX have PAS ?

No Uno model had PAS :) if you're wanting a more modern feel with PAS, either a Tipo 1.6 or possibly a Mk2 Punto would be the way to go ;)

Yes the Uno didn't need it! (y)

You don't want a mk2 Punto, horrible electric PAS. The mk1 PAS on a Sporting is probably the best I've ever come across, and the Coupe PAS is brilliant too.

Been there, done that with various Fiats over the last 35 years.
PAS is not needed on the UNo. nor the Panda but was curious as I did have a 60 Selecta of the same vintage with PAS - probably a special build - it certainly made the car ridiculously light.

I've got a Selecta and it is much heavier on the steering than other Uno's. I can see why someone with limited mobility (hence the CVT) might specify PAS on it. I'm guessing it was an option on the Selecta. (y)
