while yours is an interesting idea its not pushing the power to gain interest, a standard Marea Turbo would **** over the supercharger, get it sorted and you will get the attention!

super charger on my car would push it to 270 apparently, dont know how much of that to believe, but the engine would need updated internals, as the standard ones are pretty weak:bang:

to give you an idea Claymore is pushing about 180bhp from an standard 147bhp block with a charger....

i think 270bhp is very dubious!

standard 20vT is 220bhp and looking at just a chip and a few simple bits 270-280bhp!

it just doesnt seem worth it, but mind you the sound of a charge just doesnt do it for me atall, i love the familar sound of a jet engine from a turbo :p

well i can get from 170 to 205 from just an induction and re-map, i prefer the sound of the turbo too(y)

Supercharger would be an equal amount of work to a Turbo.

You still need to mount it, pipe it into the induction manifold, reduce compression, which on the Turbo is via the Pistons, and then sort fuelling. Also a supercharger is worse on mpg as its always driven, but is always spooling. It is also restricted by the engine as is driven by it. A turbo has no limits other than blowing itself or the engine to pieces.

This is the way forward on these engines. Have a look here, shows what is needed for big reliable power.

awesome, and to think we are still struggling to get the first Marea Turbo built over here in the UK
yeah but to be fair, they can buy then from a dealership, so its a lot easier.

700bhp doesnt mean much to me, its just a peak figure, putting that on the road is another story. i bet a standard coupe 20vT would eat it.

personally i'd go for a supercharger conversion, you'd definately get better gains (if all else is the same) but no lag too so performance would be better at the same peak power and torque figures.

you could use the 20vT cams and pistons and injectors on the 20v and then you only need to install the supercharger and an ecu such as unichip, then get it mapped. i'd estimate at least 250bhp peak, and a much flatter curve than the 20vT for both power and torque.

Jug,

Are you sure about that ? Because in the case of our Marea 2.0 20v turbo the one that have upgrade it and are around the 300hps mark using not very big turbo will ball bearings, such as GT25R do not have a bad turbo lag, given that is subjective.

Also, at least for our engine compartments in Brasil, i think you would have a problem fitting the supercharger and the belts in that car.

Bulldog,

Why is it difficult to do an engine swap there ? Aren't there any Lancias or Coupés in UK with that engine ?

How much does it cost for you to buy a new engine from the dealership ?
