Hi everyone, i have a twin air 4x4 with a six speed gearbox which is due a new clutch… 90000 miles. watched lots of videos on removing a normal panda gearbox which seems straightforward, the question is does the rear wheel drive unit make it harder to get the gearbox out, any hints or tips gratefully accepted
thanks. les

Hi Ks14, did you manage to get an answer as I'm about to take mine out and was wondering the same thing.

I think there might be some info on here. It was a while ago 2 + years back from memory. I see no reason for any problems but something is nagging about things coming out of position when the drive shafts are removed. I would have some dowels ready to act as dummies. I also think I read somewhere about the rear PTO getting in the way of removal as well so it may need separating. If I can find what Im thinking of I will post its link. Have you googled it. I would change the prop centre bearing at the same time as a matter of course. If you take and post a few photos as you go this would be very useful to others on here.
edit: TA does not have separate PTO so probably not relevant.

Had a search and some one asked the same question but got no replies .

https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/flywheel.515646/ You two should talk. I think this issue is what I have read about.

This definitely applies to the diesel, but Im susepcting a TA box may come out without it as the PTO is in the same oil / integral. Ive been looking at google. I wonder if a friendly breaker might say or I suppose a call to your local dealer??

Yeh was going to give the dealer a buzz tomorrow

Update gearbox does come out with bevel gear attached and subframe in place, thankfully just flywheel needed and no internal damage to gearbox casing
