well i got my first 3 for speeding, on a road which looks like everyone does over 40... although shockingly it is a 30...and i got stopped for it, thsi was a while back

since then i was driving my mechanics car, as my is clapped out and i have taken his car for some time as he has put it in my name temporarily..

and last week he got a letter staing a red light incident, now i dont remember such a thign a ive been very careful since the first 3 points...

if i get 6 its license revoked meaning having to take test again..

now i dont remember the red light, but you never do..

im sure i did no wrong except follow other cars.

what can be done about it
i dont wish to reapply for my license and above all my insurance will increase...

please help
i know the points are bad...but i do understand this so please try to help rather then criticise my driving.

awaitng your kind feedback...

afaik, your screwed unless you can get someone else to accept the points and say it was them driving. as i understand it, the going rate for accepting points is £100 per point :(

O no I didnt know you had to retake your test if you got six points......great after getting pulled up for the 3rd time in 4 weeks not kinda looking good :(

CHEERS FOR THE REPLIES LADS

so to get someone to accept point will be like 300 quid, lol but its this or retake until i find a booking etc.

can someone claim the points and say they were practising to drive and had a provision license?
or is that just stupid?

Did the car have L plates on? I presume not, so there is another 3 points! Is there a learner on your insurance? Even with a provisional licence you can still get points!! Or worse banned before you get a full licence!

Like suggested above get photographic proof, it may not have been you driving? If he got the letter and you only took receipt of the car on or after the day the v5 was signed over it may well not be you!! Get all this checked out before you sign for the points, good luck

Mike

no it was def me driving mate
trust me
at the time it was only me with the car
it isnt fully my car
just signed over froma mechanic as a 'courtesy car'

so its best not to risk saying a provisional driver was driving as then they will get banned before the full license?

they wont get a ban but would get points! and if you get 6 points in the first two years of having a full licence, as you know, you lose it! either get some one to take points or face loseing you licence :( soz

I know I'll get slammed, but how's this for a suggestion....

Take the punishment you deserve and learn your lesson.

Simple really. And the excuses you offer, such as "i got my first 3 for speeding, on a road which looks like everyone does over 40... although shockingly it is a 30...and i got stopped for it" and "now i dont remember the red light, but you never do..im sure i did no wrong except follow other cars", are quite simply some of the poorest I have ever heard. You have a speedo and there are signs on the road denoting the speed limit, how can you claim that everyone "seems to be doing 40" ?? And to say you "did no wrong except follow other cars" ?? So, if you are following some cars and they drive over a cliff, would you follow ???

Maybe you should and it will be one less poor driver on the road.

I know this will develop into a bitch fest as these threads normally do, but your excuses made me gag on my breakfast this morning !!

And don't even get me started and getting others to take points for you. Your poor driving and subsequent prosecution is designed to keep you off the road until you have learned to drive properly. I suggest you use that time well.

I agree rob, too many people are killed in accidents, and there is nothing worse than someone following too closely behind you.

a) Its intimidating
b)It's downright ignorant and inconsiderate
c) Its extremely dangerous.

I hate hearing about anyone losing their license etc, but there are to many dangerous drivers on the road and if it takes 6 points and a ban for someone to relise that they are not the only car on the road then so be it.

If you loose your license there is proberably a very good reason for it, i have to agree with rob, drive properly and theres no problems, i keep to speed limits and dont drive like a c**k and guess what my license is clean, funny how that works isnt it?

Just take the punishment and learn a valuable lesson

A errr....... mate of mine who was say applying for the ambulance service got 3 points for speeding, 56mph in a 50 limit.
My 'friends' wife took the points for him so he had a clear sheet.
Not saying its right and as rob and others have said, you deserve whats coming.
Red light jumping is bad news, you dont know what other traffic are doing. It has me thinking when I'm on a red run and go through red lights even with sirens going.

So, take it on the chin and behave when you ar allowed to drive again!
