General 54 reg 2.2jtd wont start

hi all my ulysse 2.2 jtd wont start it was running great yesterday went out this morning its started but was running funny like a tapping noise so I turned it off tried to start it again but now it wont start it turns over and trys to fire up but wont also the economy mode is being displayed on the lcd ive checked on the forum ie the fuses the fuse boxes but all are ok and dry I got a band new battery and its been off the car for 1 hour so plenty of time for the ecu to reset itself ive just put the new battery on and its still the same economy mode and still wont start

Timing belt might have jumped a tooth or two or may have even snapped.

I would check the belt and timing first.

Had a similar problem, turned out to be fuse no4. Have you pulled the fuses out and checked the holders? Mine looked fine from the top but under the fuse there was corrosion on the holder!
