Hello everybody

My first post.

Had above since new, done 50k, last 2 years have done no maintenance at all but still sailed through 2 MOTs but realising I am running out of luck so need to start looking after it.

1. Oil & filter - seen a link already on how to do but seems to be for a newer engine type. Is there a guide on here already - if not - can anybody help?

2. Cambelt - next job - got a mate who has done his Peugeots and others a few times before but is there a how to guide on the forum anywhere - also is it worth changing the auxillary belts at the same time.

3. Chipping and fuelmax etc - are these worth it and do they affect insurance (do you need to notify?)

All help gratefully received.

I think you should have posted in the Doblo section.

Anyway,
I have the same car. I've had the auxiliary belt collapse on me, and be replaced under warranty, and I had the cambelt done a couple of years ago. I should have had the pump done at the same time, but didn't, as the tech said wait till it begins to squeak! I may get the lot replaced again next year. I've also had the usual wiper collapse and replacement.

Apart from that, Mrs Lincoln, the car has been fantastic. I've done near 70 thou now and it runs sweet as a nut - always has.

I go to a reputable independent and, like you, have not yet failed an MOT - but possibly this year?

I need a new number plate because the original is delaminating, and a new bit of exhaust; I also think I may have a tiny weepage from the fuel filter. I'll take it in when the sun comes out.

I do no work myself other than changing bulbs. I can't! :p

Why chip it? Your car is running well so why risk spoiling it for a bit more power that it really doesn't need anyway.

Hello by the way ;)

Hi Ulpian

Thanks for the quick reply - dead right I should have put it in the Doblo section.

I also have a small weep from the fuel filter - it went away after I fiddled with the pipe inlets at the top. The fittings look like modern plumbing fittings (Speedfit etc) where they detach and attach easily enough when not under pressure. Perhaps there was some grit in the seal that allowed diesel to bypass and leak out.

Cheers

Thanks. I'm not worried; it (filter) was replaced at the last service and I know they'll look at it. It (smell) has practically disappeared anyway.

There are plenty of people here who actually know what they are talking about - you'll doubtless be hearing from them soon enough.

This is the best car forum I've found as it manages to combine useful support with robust comments. Enjoy (y)
