Yikes! Just configured one for fun and it looked a bit nice with the leather interior and the 16 inch alloys but it was north of £15,000.....

Plus what a boring lot of colours. Two whites, five grey/dark blue/black and one red.

Looks like they raided the parts dept.
Bumpers from North America model. Abarth steering wheel,
Abarth side skirts and roof spoiler (I think)

True.

It is actually a very good thing for existing owners that is has been done as a separate model. If instead they had introduced the new bumpers across the board, especially if they had added another parts bin option or two (like a proper glove box) they could have promoted this as a "new model" Fiat 500 to drum up new sales. This would have immediately made all existing cars the "old model" and damaged their RVs.

I quite like it. If I was going for a Fiat 500 it is probably the model I would get. I just spec'd up a 1.2 in Blue with leather and a few essential (for me) extras, and it was about £13.7k.

Trouble is, that is getting very lose to a better spec'd and quicker Abarth 500's price. Mine came in with leather and a few extras at just over £15k. The extra cost over the time you would hope to keep the car is negligible. But, the A500 would cost more to run and insure, so you make your choices I guess. I couldn't justify the price of the TA version though.

Kind of embarrassing to have all the "sporty" add-ons ( and extra weight ), but only a measly 69 bhp to play around with. I know you could have the TA version, but the price is just plain silly. Would have made more sense to separate it from other models and fit the 105 TA.

My car has "sporty" add ons and 69 bhp...not because I want it to go faster because I like the "sporty" bits more than the other bits. Not everyone wants to use their 500 to go fast, quite a few owners have other cars and the 500 is their cheap run about. lets face it even the fastest abarth is slow compared to a proper sports car.

You are right I was seriously pushing the Mini Cooper and it didn't feel fast at all. Maybe if the rev limit was at 9000 instead of 6500 = (

I do quite like it. If I were to buy one I'd probably just stick to the basic 1.2 S in BNW. Boring I know but I don't like any of the colours enough to want to pay extra for them!

At £11,300, is it too expensive? Possibly so, but in relation to the rest of the 500 range it does look like a decent deal. I particularly like the sporty interior and it does come with all of the standard creature comforts (aircon, B&M and leather steering wheel, 50/50 seats...:)).

I like it too, has all the bits you'd want in a sporty package, even if it is just cosmetic. Probably a first for the 500 without buying an Abarth. The Plus and Street were close but I think this is a step up, aimed more at blokes I guess! Doubt they'll come to Ireland as I think we're considered too small a market - self fulfilling if you ask me but I'd buy one if they were available !!

Sure, not everyone wants to use their 500 to go fast, but equally there must be those who would like something between the 85TA and the Abarth. If a car has sport in it's name then it's not unreasonable to expect some sort of sporty performance. Ironically the 500S will probably be slightly slower than a 500 Pop. Power to weight.
Is the 500 a cheap runabout? Plenty of cheaper runabouts available

Yes it is a cheap runabout..I am sure there are lots of cheaper cars but I said "quite a few owners have other cars and the 500 is their cheap run about."

My 500 is my cheap runabout, it's a lot cheaper than my other car.

Opinion, not a statement of fact. It's all relative to a person's wealth. What's your other car got to do with anything.

Are you a bit slow?
"quite a few owners have other cars and the 500 is their cheap run about."
This is why I mentioned my other car.

I was offered £7k for a trade in on my car... and that was a few months ago it's worth less now, that is by far the cheapest car I have owned in a long time.

So compared to the cars I have owned and own now the 500 is a cheap car.

The word cheap is always going to be relative thats why I mentioned my other car and other peoples 2nd cars to give the word cheap some perspective.:bang:
