Hello,

This weekend's project is to get the interior mirror light working. I have the door switch and spare bulbs on order (hopefully they will arrive in time), the only thing I need to get is the wire from switch to mirror (black) and from mirror to fuse (white).

My question is; what size cable should be used. I have the option of:

9/0.30, 0.65mm², 5.75A - cable OD 2.3mm.
14/0.30, 1.0mm², 8.75A - cable OD 2.6mm.
28/0.30, 2.0mm², 17.5A - cable OD 3.3mm.

Also, what kind of connector do I need to feed into the back of the mirror and into the fuse box.

Many thanks
Stu.

Stu any of those wire sizes will be able to handle the current. The bulb is only 3W so it only draws .25 Amps so the thinnest one 2.3mm will suffice and be easier to tuck the windscreen seal.

The connector Damian has pointed out is called a bullet connector, if you have a soldering iron or a crimper you can pick them up off Ebay for a few quid. Or you will find them in Halfords if you want them for this weekend. Whilst you are there get yourself an LED festoon bulb to replace the filament one. Again you can get these from eBay for a few quid for two. They give off much better light than the original ones.

Hey guys, just wanted to jump in here, does anyone know off hand what size bulb is correct for the interior mirror bulb for a 500F/L?

Having a hard time tracking down the correct size.

If you haven't got the wire running up the A pillar and you want to do it. This is how I did mine.
Tie some thin cotton or fishing line to a small washer that will fit through the hole in the roof behind the interior light. Then with a strong magnet wrapped in cloth to protect the paint, draw the magnet along the outside ,top of the windscreen and down the A pillar to where the fusebox is ,then tie the wire to the fishing line a pull it back up and out the hole at the int light. Remember inside the panels are sharp corners and metal so a few attempts maybe necessary.

Hi toscy, it is bulbbinnthe centre of the photo and I think it is 10w. Should be able to find on eBay.

Wicked !

The maximum wattage filament bulb you can put inside the mirror is 3W. If you put any higher the heat produced will melt the plastic of the mirror. I know from experience!

Search for a 12v 3W Festoon Bulb 30mm long. Or LED equivalent.

Where did you manage to get 12v 3w bulbs? Can't find them anywhere?

Thanks.

Google 12v 3W 30mm festoon Bulb. You will find them all over ebay or amazon. Or alternatively google 12v 30mm LEN festoon bulb for the LED version.
