General 500 Abarth EsseEsse

Unless I'm looking in the wrong place, the only thing that I can see on the official Italian Abarth 500 website is the mention of "160 horsepower" and nothing else. I've seen what you mention on places like italiaspeed and even some other websites taking about figures close 200BHP, which if definitely wrong for the esseesse. I can't see anything official from Abarth, did you get the information from Abarth?

Maybe the Paris International Motorshow will tell us more?

The AGP is 18100 euros in Italy and the A500 is 18500 euros. Could this be an indication to what it will cost in the UK?

The 200bhp model is the Assetto Corse, a track-prepared model for the one-make series, the 500 Abarth Challenge (details at the same place).

Like I said, the information comes directly from Abarth. I am a freelance journalist and the information comes directly from their press office.

Yeah, I know about the Assetto Corse as that's been around for some time. I thought that I would mention that some other reports from less reliable sources were talking about power outputs close to 200BHP on the esseesse, (197BHP to be exact). Obviously this is wrong and they are either guessing, or getting mixed up with the Assetto Corse spec.

If you get your info direct from Abarth then that's great and I'll look forward to hearing more on your website.

Ah, the original press release had a typo - they'd written the Esseesse press release using the Assetto Corse release as a template, but they didn't update the power figures correctly. Consequently, the release went out saying the Esseesse had 147 KW, which translates to about 200bhp. Despite the fact it also said 160 CV in big letters, many lazy journos incorrectly assumed the Esseesse also had 200bhp.

Hence, confusion.

And in Germany the AGP and the Abarth 500 both are 18,100 euros. I would think that the pricing in the UK would follow similar pattern ie. the prices of those two cars would be very close to each other.

Is it so that the EsseEsse kit on the AGP includes a new turbo? Is this the biggest difference compared to the EsseEsse kit on the Abarth 500 or are there any other major difference on the kits?

If the A500 kit doesn't have a turbo then the expected price should be a little lower than the kit on the AGP. How much of a difference could that make?

What form of evil witchcraft do you assume they use, then...?

yes i know it should need a re map as much as any other person ! but surely fiat/abarth would include this info as part of the spec ? it makes the ss kit more desirable if you also get "specially designed engine management programme" as well as all the other bit's, being a journalist you of all people should know the power of sales through describing each little detail, and there is NO mention of any form of re-map on the spec not saying you dont get one but the spec doesn't say you do.
