5 year warranty

Does'nt this 5 year warranty on just one model beg the question are the rest of the range not as well built so they only have a 3 year warranty?

if you cant see why the 0%apr deal from a dealership is worse than a bank loan then you failed maths at school :p

only 1 thing really matters, total amount payable.

only one method is best, saving up the money first.

Failing maths has nothing to do with it. You are correct when there there are no strings attached to the zero % deal. Otherwise, that may often not be the case. Let's say that to get zero % that you have to pay the car off in 24 months. For some people, the higher monthly payments required could make the deal unattractive or impossible. In that case, zero % for 24 months is a lot worse than a bank loan for 36 or 48 months. The bank loan will be more expensive but it will give the buyer payments that fit into his budget, making it possible to have a new car right then. Like I said, read all of the fine print and make sure you understand everything before you sign anything. The cheapest solution today isn't always the cheapest or the best over time.

... Oh I do like the new Bravo :)

Mmm, so do I! I reckon in the metal they even more stunning than in the pictures. But, while I can manage the £0 deposit very easily, the monthly payments are more than my mortgage...

Hmmm Indeed... one of the kids told me about this 5 year warranty and I did wonder if it was like the 2 years manufacturers warranty + 1 years 3rd party warranty co. warranty that I had the pleasure of on my 52 plate 1.6 Stilo... which I bought secondhand so experienced the 3rd year warranty blues (n)

Mate whom has had two Getz, 1 from new and 1 nearly new has managed to claim for some remarkable things on Hyundai's warranty incl. wiper blades!

Personally I was always very satisfied with Skoda's warranty when I owned new or nearly new (1992-2002), they took the car put the issues right & handed it back and money was never discussed. Whereas me Dad whom at the time had a Vento from new was always at loggerheads with VW re warranty repairs and arguing over whom was contributing how much towards what... there are warranties & warranties :)

Having bought a 2008 Bravo with the 5 year warranty deal, I can confirm the 0% finance deal is not compulsory. I got the 5 years and I paid with a bankers cheque.

The 5 year deal is FREE, you are not given 3 years and you don't have to pay for an extra 2. They give you 5 years instead of 3.

My only concern is that I don't have a single piece of paperwork to confirm that I have 5 years. I asked the dealer "what if I come back in 4 years asking for a repair under the warranty and you turn round and tell me that I only had 3 years?" The dealer said that their computer system will tell them that it's 5 years and not 3. Hmm. Not quite the same as having a piece of paper as proof for my own records.

If you bought a new TV from John Lewis with a 3 year warranty instead of 1 you'd expect paperwork to back that up. And indeed they give you something in writing. Same goes if you buy a fridge from Curry's and a 5 year warranty - the till receipt will confirm the 5 year warranty. So why can't you get that with a car that costs 25 times as much?

every new car should come with a warranty booklet detailing the length and terms of the warranty, and it should maintain a record of all warranty work carried out. this is normal practice on any car from any marque. i'd demand a warranty booklet.

This is such a good deal. Unlimited milage as well. And personally one of the best looking 5 door cars you can get. The new advert is a beast! Slightly copying of the Megane Sport though

Hiyaa mate.. bought me a bravo on the 26th march, thinking fiat had finally got its act together and made a good car, whaat with the 5yr advertised warranty... hmmm.
Been having lengthy conversations with the dealer over this both befor i bought the car, after and also now, i was on the understanding that i was entitled to a 5yr warranty, when i was getting nowhere with the dealer i contacted fiat uk, and was told that the 5yr warranty was only part of the 0 per cent offer... so who`s telling me the truth, and if the dealer has sold me a car under false promises.
Im not won over by fiat th dealer or even the car infact, having had paint problems, media player problems and even safety related parts like the breaks and mirrors... dont seem beautifully put together to me, gonna have me another seat cupra methinks, fiat really need to get their sh*t together, before advertising a well built car...
Sorry guys, its just the way it`ll always be with fiat.. check out Auto express, issue 1008.
A big (n) from me im afraid.

@Skydiver, all Bravos sold since January have a 5 year warranty. That's from Fiat. Call up their head office (customer service) to check. The 0% finance is optional. Fiat UK and my dealer have me logged on their system with a 5 year warranty - I double checked with both because I had nothing in writing to say it was any more than 3 years.

I've also been told that Fiat will be changing their warranty and servicing book that comes with Bravos to state 5 years instead of 3. This will be ready in a few months time - a bit silly since the deal has been around for nearly 5 months now. Perhaps they've decided to make it a more permanent offer.

If you read the offer details on the Fiat site it doesn't say that the warranty deal is linked to the 0% finance deal. i.e. you can't have one without the other. Stick to your guns.

Sorry you were given a duff Bravo. Just unlucky I guess. The majority of peeps around here are very happy including me despite some silly (non-critical) problems.

In case anyone hasn't seen Auto Express, the readers' survey rated dealers in various categories and they compiled a list of the top 30. Fiat's rankings (1 being the best) are...
Value for money: 20
Standard of work: 29
Technical knowledge: 30
Helpfulness & attitude: 30
Communication: 29
Cleanliness & atmosphere: 30
Dealer Overall: 30

So Fiat is bottom of the pile according to AE readers. Some of these categories will require an investment from Fiat and the dealer networks to put right, but others won't cost them a penny, such as helpfulness and atmosphere. What does it cost to be cheerful and helpful? My dealer is good on those points, so there must be an awful lot of crummy Fiat dealers out there to have ranked so low.

There still seems to be a bit of uncertainty around the site (even from people who should know better! ;) :p ) about how the 5 year warranty works and who qualifies for it, so here's what Fiat said in a letter to all it's UK dealerships on May 9th:

Bravo 5 year Warranty is applicable to all retail sales (finance offers or cash purchases)...

...The extended warranty offer excludes any other sales (Fiat Group, Fleet, RAC, Motability, etc) and is not applicable on any retail sales where cars may be used for hire, reward or commercial use.

The 5 year warranty is fully subsidised by FIAT UK, including the set-up administration fee. Customers receive the welcome letter from Car Care Plan where the expiry date indicates the 3 or the 5 year warranty. Upon sale of the car the change of ownership transfer fee is payable to CCP by a customer.
 • Unlimited mileage
 • 5 year term
 • Full OEM cover by CCP
 • Fully subsidized by Fiat UK
 • Retail sales only
 • Includes cash purchases
 • Welcome letter states warranty period
Hopefully that clears that up? :D

A welcome letter from Car Care Plan??? Has anyone received that letter? I haven't and I collected my Bravo on 1st March.
