Ok so if got a mk 6 speed (punto 55) which is going i a buddies car.
This gearbox doesn't come with the axle cups.

I have a cinq sporting 5 speed box laying around, so i thougt swap the diffs.

I know that these boxes have different final drives. but are these located in the diff?

thanks already ;)

The differential teeth are matched to one of the transfer shafts cog size for final drive.

Can the cog on the output shaft be swapped out for the one that matches the diff? Or can the get cogs on the 6 speed shaft be swapped by the gear cogs from the cinq? It sounds possible, unless the 6 speed shafts don't match the shafts from the 5spd.

The transfer shaft on the six speed is longer and the final drive cog is machined so non-removable. Some of the ratios could be changed but may not be suited to the final drive ratio. The six speed box is usually run on bigger wheels than 13" so effects the top end.

The 55 6spd is a close ratio box, to account for the
a) lack of power
and
b) the immense weight of a Mark 1 Punto.

Great gearbox, I have one in my Cinq with an ATB, the 5 spd cups should fit the final drive.

You can't Substitute the CWP.

Cheers

D
