Technical 5 door vs 3 door weight

Are the 5 and 3 door shells the same weight?

Depends on engine most. 5 door vs 3 is a difference of about 60 kg - 3 door is 60 kg lighter overall.

For example 1.6 sohc is about 1070 kg (5 door), and 1.9TD is 1310 kg (also 5 door). It differs more in relation to engine and trim level then to 3 door vs 5 door.

Thanks for the reply. I dont care about the overall weight, only the body shell. As I understand it, the 3 door is heavier than the 5 door due to reinforcments made to the shell to comply with improved impact standards.

Depends if you choose a Mk1 or Mk2 5 door.

I was talking about Mk1 hehe Well, as I said.... difference is maybe up to 60 or 70 kg at max, no more. Too small to matter for much anything? It would be much easier if I knew for what are you needing the info

Im planning to build a new race car. Ive had a 5 door so would like a 3 door now but not if its 60kg's heavier. That is significant

Maybe Rich can advise the weight of his Sedici? I'd imagine you will be doing the same things and will arrive at around the same weight.

I found some info

5 door 1.4 990kg
3 door 1.4 1030kg

Options maybe different between the models but its pretty close. Not worth the worry really.
