Tuning 40 mm

Stick an add in the WANTED section!
What you want is a Punto 1.2 16v throttle body, you're best bet is to keep an eye on eBay you can pick them up cheaply if you're prepared to wait.

As for the 'ported & polished' aspect don't waste your time -as standard the 40mm tb will plug straight in & give you an improvement in performance. As for polishing -extensive testing has proved this does absolutely nothing to improve flow.

Being so old that airplanes were steam powered when I were young I follow the teachings of Vizard :worship:
Time would be better spent on making a well made conversion plate than farting around with autosol, besides which 1HP .... It's torque you want

What happened to Brin?? He spat his dummy out and then got hit with the......

He's still on facebook selling his brintec custom remaps and other rip off rubbish though.

Morgan has a MPI.
Don't you have a SPI.... unlike the MPI there is no direct 40mm replacement for a SPI TB hence sparky5 modifying them (& they do look damn good).

Unless of course you've recently bought a MPI SEI & sparky5 is now porting/polishing 16v TB's.

Anyone got pics of the mounting bracket for this? be interesting to see how to about fabricating one!

Pics  It's only a piece of ally with some holes in it!
Not worth me taking pics of mine as I modified it (one of the mounting holes on the TB was changed so one screw goes through that, the adapter plate & into the manifold ;)).
Here's roughly how to do it....
Firstly DO NOT drill the main hole untill the end :nono:
Make a paper template of the bottom of the original TB. Fix this to a piece of ally (I used 6mm as that's what I had available). Use this to drill the 3 holes to mount it to the manifold & countersink them ,make the holes only just big enough for the 3 countersunk screws you're going to use to pass through -6mm is also just thick enough to allow you to countersink the holes on the bottom for the TB locating tabs on the manifold (you will see what I mean when you take the TB off).
Make a paper template of the bottom of the 16v TB, lay this over the other template to get the 'best fit possible' so that the main hole lines up BUT the screws to fix the 16vTB to the plate don't interfere with the heads of the screws holding the plate to the manifold. Drill these holes not forgetting that they need to be smaller than the screw diameter as you will tap these holes so they are threaded.
Now drill/file the main hole to line up with the TB side & the manifold side, some of the sides are sloped hence not banging a big hole in it to start with (been there, done that ). You might need to enlarge the hole slightly in the plastic manifold -i did.
If the 16v TB didn't come with it's throttle cable locating plate you will need to screw a spacer plate to the 16vTB & use the Sei plate. Chose a thickness for this spacer & screw the Sei plate so that the cable will line up the correctly & that it is the correct distance from the TB.

Or if you can't be bothered with all this ask sparky5 how much he will charge to modify your existing Sei TB. (wonder if I will get commission (y))

I have only done SPI TB's so far, but the MPI one's have been done by GSR, see:- https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-ii/290398-mk2-punto-1242-8v-f-i-r-e-basic-tuning-help-2.html so it should be possible to bore the TB from 36mm to 40mm and make and fit a butterfly.
Adaptor plates would not be a problem to do if I had a manifold and 1.2 16v TB to measure.

Guys,as no one have any of these TBs up for sale,i only have 2 options.

- First one is someone to make a 40mm TB for me and sell it to me

and

-Second one is that we will try boring out mine but in order to do that,we need precise instructions which will help us avoid damaging the TB.We need instructions like how to disassemble(and then re-assemble) the TB so that we can bore it out,and i am asking for help because this TB is "fix" and nothing can be replaced,so if we do something wrong...the whole TB goes to trash.

Help would be so much appreciated.
