500x had its 36k service and health check this morning, no issues.

Thought I would share the the fact that since new car has had two new tyres at 22k and tread is now at 4mm on the replacements.

Happy with the quality of my 500x and the one issue I had of a rattle from the radio/sat head was fixed by dealership very early on.

We are all quick - me included to post about issues, but so far this car has been the best built and trouble free Fiat (of the 8) I have owned over the years. Tempting fate here!

That's great to hear, I'm only 6k in and very happy so far, is there a list or thread on here with dealers folk have been happy with in terms of servicing, my first service is coming up and I've never been to a dealer in my life for mechanical work, as long as they use the right oil I guess I would be happy,

I stopped using Main dealers for servicing years ago as generally they are over the top price-wise. That said a mate runs a local Italian independent - Motor-Mech in Birmingham so I get better work from them. As long as they adhere to the Fiat schedule and use genuine Fiat parts an Indy can satisfy the manufacturer warranty.

I have a very good independent I use, what about the service reminder on the dashboard, can that be reset or does it need to go to a dealer for that, the first service isn't much than a look over I thought, but I fancy an oil change just to treat the car,

I pay my dealer (multi-franchise) less than £15 per month for a Service Plan that covers my services (1 per year is enough for me), 10% discount off any parts and a guaranteed courtesy car. It also includes at least one MOT but uncertain if more. Doesn't seem too much to me and prices fixed for term of the plan. I've had a plan with them on both cars for about 5 years now and am totally satisfied

Hi Alan, do you mind if I ask which dealer, mine never offered a service plan when I bought the car, but it was 3 months old not new,

Stoneacre of Almost Everywhere. Personally I've had nothing but excellent service from them, but I'm aware that some might not agree

Mine wasn't new when I bought it either, just over 6 months old

A good Indy that knows his stuff (mine can even do my Delta that wasn't even sold here!) can do the Service reset with the correct software. Cannot recommend MotorMech enough to anyone Midlands based. That said if you really want a Main dealer around here I would nominate Research in Nuneaton.

Be aware that if the engine is equiped with a MultiAir unit, it needs very specific oil indeed...!!

Euro 5 engines up to about 2014: 5W40 C3 oil.

Euro 6 engines after 2014: synthetic 0W30 C2 oil.

The last isn't well available, so be sure it is used anyway!

My service was carried out under a Fiat service plan at a main dealership in Chelmsford, Essex. I was lucky to receive a surprise contribution from Fiat as I had been waiting so long to my 500x to arrive. Main dealership experience has been very good.

I was surprised to be given a years free roadside assistance from Fiat when I picked my car up this weekend, apparently if you have your car serviced at a main dealership this is now standard..

Yep every service I’ve had they give me 1yr breakdown cover.[emoji106]

When ours was in for warranty work recently I asked about this. Apparently up until March 2016 they use to provide a three year breakdown service with all new vehicles, regardless of servicing.

In April 2016 all new cars came with a years breakdown that was extended by a year when you had an annual service. Our car falls into the 3 year cover. It makes sense only providing yearly cover upon servicing as otherwise fiat could be picking up the bill for a car that’s never been serviced over the three years.
