3500RPM Limit in 1st Gear.

Hi all,

First post! I have an interesting issue with my 2012 Punto 1.2 8v..

Sometimes, when you need to give it a bit of whelly to make room at roundabouts etc, or to maintain proper distances between you and other cars / or need to boot it quickly (you get the idea) - I suffer from what can almost be described as an ECU lag at exactly 3500RPM in 1st gear only.

The engine forgets that full throttle is active, then 'wakes up' causing a nasty jolt forwards.

To experiment, I parked the car, put it into first gear, clutch still depressed, and revved the engine as hard as I could (I wanted to test full RPM range) - Yes the engine was hot.

The RPM would not go above 3500RPM.

Has someone fitted a form of launch control to my Punto lol? Can any experts out there explain what is going on with this little 1.2 ?

it's common on newer cars..,
similar on the Twinair,

Thanks for the reply . Is there nothing I can do to disable it? When you say common, do you mean a common fault, or it's supposed to do this?

I assume it's in the factory map..,
suppose you could get another map without it..,
