Service due in couple of weeks,
08 1.4 eleganza - 34k - 2nd year service qouted 504.12 !

Price on par with other fiat dealers?

Shop around...let your phone take the strain.

I baulked at £450 for my 2nd Service at my dealers on my diesel GPS.

Dealer charges do vary, sometimes quite widely.

Another option is Servicing to Fiat schedule at a VAT registered Independent.

As long as original OR equivalent quality parts are used there is no problem with Warranty... A GOOD EU regulation for once! (y)

£149 at Arnold Clark. May cost extra if tappets need adjusting and about £35 of you want the pollen filter changed (cheap and easy to do yourself). Other than that the AC service is Fiat spec so you will keep your warranty.

Perhaps you should name and shame the dealer that quoted you over £500. Obviously different places will have different prices but anything over £200-250 is simply outrageous!

SLM Motors is the name to shame - after closing Eastbourne branch last year, now a hours drive to Hastings.

Drove past the old fiat place last week and autowise.co.uk have gone into the site - £129 and will do a sat mornings.

Gonna cancel service with dealer now, id expect to pay more with dealer but I am obviously funding the free evo servicing lol

ive just had a quote for £442,65 for my 2nd service on 1.9 mjet grande punto from preston motorpark(fiat dealer)!!!!

whos had there 2nd service(36k) on a 1.9 mjet? how much and where at?

ive priced up all the parts(genuine) from shop4parts:

oil(selenia 5ltrs)
oil filter
air filter(not needed as i have a wasable bmc panel filter)
fuel filter
brake fluid
sump plug washer
pollen/cabin filter
comes up to £115

and local mechanic will do it for £100 labour. that includes service and using all my supplied genuine parts, check adjust tappets, brake fluid change and all other relevant checks, and reset service counter.

i take it this is sufficient to keep warranty sweet?

cheers!

as long as they can reset the counters on the ecu .....

my first service is now due on my 1.9 and the main dealers want £205. im going to an independant vat reg garage and its £100 cheaper with the reset..... still keep me warranty too....

I have been quoted £320 for a major service on my 1.9 mjet i nearly fell of my seat. that seems like a rip off to me heres the list of what they are going to do.

oil change
oil filter
polen filter
break fluid
fuel filter
air filter
plugs

i dought those parts cost £100 so £220 labour is just taking the ****.

Read above, parts for mine come to 113.

even then its still £200 labour that seams really expensive to me. i was hoping the hole service would cost about £200.

Not for the "big" service Peter... Fiat quoted me £440... I had it done for £290 at my Independent garage... Shop around.

Does anyone know if it 100% have to be VAT registered garage? If so, why? I looked at the eu legislation and it just says to be serviced using oem or equivalent parts following the correct schedule. Reason I ask, the quote I got was from a long serving mobile mechanic, does my parents cars, but isn't vat registered....

Price on par with other fiat dealers?

 now that's shocking, especially as it's a 1.4 petrol engine (n)

most definitely not on a par with any of the other Fiat dealers i contacted about my 2nd year service. The dearest i think was £450 (mjet 1.9) but i got it for about £350 from Forward Autos (Fiat dealer)

Shop around matey phone other dealers and get a price.

Which dealers was it?
Where do you live?

Just an update, Local independent wanted 160inc vat for labour to do my 2nd year 36k service, rang fiat dealer in blackpool, there doin it for 150 all in! So with the parts I bought, comes to 263 Inc vat for service! Bargain! Sure some on here said they paid more than that at an independent,
