I've been offered a 20v turbo coupe that has been rear ended, and tbh i'm very tempted to buy it and do the conversion in my hgt.
What exactly do I need off the coupe, and is there anything to look for? The coupe is mint apart from the rear end shunt, and has only done 44k miles with full fiat history and it is totally standard. It's got all the keys with it and it starts and runs fine.

Cheers in advance.

engine gearbox wireing loom ecu front cros member gear linkages turbo intercoler radiator all pipework front suspension hubs wishbones water expansion tank oil cooler steering rack lock barrels keys key code box turbo manifold and down pipe exhaust coupe wheels to clear the hugue brakes

basically everything that you can take off from the doors forward and i mean everything !!! you have to swop the braking systems too

and i gurantee the electrics will take you a minimum of a month jay did it to his hgt and it took him a month to work out the electrics and hes an auto electrician!!! it also took ribzz over an month to do his electrics

both of them have had major problems with reliability normally down to electrics so be warned it will be a life of constant pain and i wouldnt reccomend doing it if you are going to use the car as a daily drive!

You'll have to ask Thomeas.

Whatever anyone else says will be wrong.

i'd take the whole car, park them next to each other, and keep swapping parts until it works. lol

Thanks for your honest opinions guys.
I'm not gonna bother as it's way too much hassle and I need the car to be reliable later in the year for taking it to shows etc.

I'll probably go with my original plan of having my engine dropped out, cleaned and polished up, cambelt done etc and put back in.

Cheers guys.

i spend a lot of time on the coupe forum and if you think bravos have problems you should buy a coupe! they have all the traits of the bravo and twice as many things to go wrong at double/triple the price!!

i would suggets you only do the conversion if you are really confident you can keep it one the road!

i have my conversion all planed for the summer but i am going to buy another car for my daily drive because i know its going to have teething problems galore!!!

If you wanted the 20v turbo that much then buy the Coupe

yup... some1 else thats muissed the point! :)

you buy a bravo cos u love the looks of a bravo... its just doesn't have the engine you want in it.

It's like buying a Lime Grean cost cos it has an inside pocket......... if u want me to explain.. just ask ;)

Go for it fella, i love everything about the Bravo, but nowt wrong with making it better.

Why is it that all the people that have little digs at peoples ideas, hide behind the anonymous posts?? get some guts and post your negatives with a name!! or is that what you do, go from forum to forum causing trouble and not having the guts to use your name...... rather be an anorak about something i enjoy ie bravos, than a heartless 'no-life' that interupts people asking advice with low, almost unecessary 'crap' points!

ach, its the same coupe of trolls. i'm distressed that people keep rising to it, and that the mods are slow to remove them.

personally, if i could afford a 20vt then i think i'd rather i had it still in the coupe, and not my bravo.

Personnally i would buy a coupe (and i did :) ) i love my coupe and dont regret my dicision at all.

I loved my bravo, but the coupe is definatly a better car to drive and be in, again this is peronal, and if you are on here asking what you need for an engine conversion i suggest you dont attempt it, and if you pay someone else, the bill will be so large that there wouldnt be a point.

Just my oppinion but i am sure others wont agree, just go and have a drive of a coupe an then get back in the bravo and you will understand what i mean.

re

as above, i couldnt afford to keep my brava with 2ltr lancia engine on the road, mainyl cos of fuel and insurance, i have never had any electrical problems, even though mine was done by a dodgy garage! lol

i know it is a bit stupid and it woudl have been cheaper to buy a lancia with engine in or coupe with a turbo engine,

but it was an really good feeling when i was creeping away from my brothers mate with a rolling roaded 300bhp evo 5 along a straight bit of road! (i know i woudl of been stuffed at the first corner!)
