Apologies I’m a newbie and I’ve posted this already but not sure where it went,
I’m in the south of France and stuck with the drivers side door not opening from the outside, the lock works and all other doors work correctly inc central locking. I removed the door card and found that the handle mechanisms both external and internal all seem connected correctly with cables and rods ( see photo with three arrows) and when both handles are individually pulled the latch release moves when viewed from inside the door ( see photo with one red arrow) BUT the door only opens when the internal handle is pulled?
Has anyone encountered this or overcome it as I’m struggling finding information and my French is rubbish. I’m hesitant to remove the lock in case I make things worse but I noticed on a thread for a punto that had the same problem and it was an internal fault on the latch, could my issue be the same as photo three which is a photo of the punto’s fault. The video is me operating the OUTSIDE handle and showing it appears to be activating the latch internally?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Steve

When I first started to read I thought perhaps someone had tried to break in and pulled violently on the outside handle breaking the mechanism, but now probably not. Although it could have been strained and stretched to the point it doesn't fully operate.
I see you say the external handle appears to operate the mechanism correctly when viewed through the door panel, can you with the door open manually push the lock catch to it's fully closed position and then when viewing from inside the panel and pulling the outside handle to it's fully released position, when normally this would cause the door catch to spring open. However at this point, with it not releasing can you see if just pulling the outside handle internal connection a little further it releases the lock? In other words as if the outside handle was worn and not actually going far enough to open the door and you are just helping it the last bit.
If that releases the door catch then it points to a door handle fault rather than the lock. Obviously if it still doesn't open then the lock it's self.
Don't forget either way to operate the internal door release lever to release the catch fully before slamming the door or you will damage the mechanism.
Hopefully someone with full knowledge of your model and may have specific information may be more precise.
What I am saying is general to most vehicles based on fifty years in the trade prior to retirement.:)

Thank you that’s a good idea, I refitted all the door card once I fail to fix as I thought at least I can exit safely and it all still locks, I will remove the door card tomorrow and try your idea, I never thought to just ease it a bit further with my finger where the cable lifts the catch 👍 will let you know if it works 🤞

Does anyone know exactly how to remove this green clip without breaking it🤷‍♂️ I’m one clip away from removing the lock but date the break it, is it one piece of plastic that just pops up or do you clip off the top bit then push from underneath

Hi Steve, the green clip as viewed in picture 2 unclips from its current position (9 'o' clock if you will) from the cable. You'll need to move it around to approximately 12 'o' clock , this will then allow the cable end to be slid back (away from you in the photo) It's a proper fiddle though as there's not much room to get at it. The plastic clip sort of clips in place with a 'C' shaped grip on the cable end if that makes sense..... If the worst happens and the 'C' part of the clip breaks, it can be temporarily held in place with a small 'Zip Tie' Hope this is helpful. Regards Superscudo (Who now owns a Ducato).... :)

Thanks for that, yes I found a clip on eBay and zoomed in and it made sense as you say, but it was still as fiddly as hell to get off but I managed it without breaking 👍

This is an example of the clip
