hi all, can someone please help me as this problem is driving me nuts, i have a 65 plate ducato recovery truck, over the last few months the eml light keeps coming on and its coding for dpf P1206 High flow resistance in diesel particulate trap- signal amplitude maximum, iove had the sensor changed , the dpf cleaned out, smoke leak test to see if there any split pipes, but it still coming on, BUT, SOMETIMES i can go 100s of miles without it coming on, but then other times it will constantly come on , i keep clearing it and then it stays off for a while, for instance i drove to burnley last week over 300 mile round trip and it didnt come on once, then 2 days later i went to brum and it came on after 10 miles, then once i kept clearing it and got to brum it didnt come back on at all all the way home, ?? any idea what this could be please. or is it just a case of ripping the dpf out and having it remapped ? Another thing i notiuced , when the eml light came on i turned it off whilst moving, and every time the light came back on after 1 minute 40 seconds, it did this 7 or 8 times, how weird

Hi

This fault code means: 1.) You have a blocked DPF giving an excessive pressure drop, 2.) The differential pressure sensor is faulty or 3.) The wiring and connectors for the pressure sensor are faulty.

You seem to have eliminated possibility 1, and the sensor change should have eliminated possibility 2. That leaves possibility 3, which would tie in with the random/intermittent nature of the fault.

As far as I can tell, the plastic bodied sensor is under the vehicle near the exhaust system, and has 2 pressure tubes and a multiway electrical connection. I suggest you take a very careful look at the connector and wiring loom.

The 1 minute 40 seconds is 100 seconds, so I suspect the ECU controlling the illumination of the EML light may be just counting down before displaying it after a reset.

Ok thanks for your answer, ill get the wiring checked coming from the pressure sensor then, its defo not a split in one of those pipes as we did a smoke leak test.
