I recently had front struts and rear shocks replaced because there was a clunking sound on rough roads. The rears are fine but my mechanic says that the front struts,
(KYB Excel G purchased from 500 Madness) do not fit properly. There is a quarter inch gap in the top mount assembly even when the top nut is fully tightened on both struts. Could this be a fault of the struts or the car itself? I have watched a video on the installation and it does not seem at all complicated and my mechanic is very experienced. I could use some advice...thanks

Build a teflon a spacer. Or any kind of resistant material with the same diameter or a little larger than that top strut mount. Put it between the frame and the mount. Done
