Does this look like it would fail an MOT to anyone?

PXL_20231011_165234529.jpg

We had it fail specifically on this side as 'twisted'... the only thing I can think of is that they are referring to where the line crosses the strut, as some OE struts have a mount on both sides for the brake line to fit onto. However these struts only have a mount on the right hand side and aren't left/right oriented, which means on the side which passed MOT the line doesn't cross over and on the side which failed (pictured) it does. Worth noting the line does move freely, it isn't pulled taught or kinked anywhere. Also worth noting this did not show up on the MOT a year prior.

If this is actually a fail, I'm not entirely sure what I am supposed to do about it in the future short of replacing the struts with ones which have the mount on both sides? At the time I didn't know wtf they were on about so I just sent it and this time it passed with an advisory of minor twist, but concerned it might show up next year. Interested to see what other people's look like if anyone has any pics.

Cheers

It looks like I need e.g. NAPA NSA1116 on the right and NAPA NSA1117 on the left? The ones I bought a few years back were a Drexler G-Force branded pair and were not marked with a specific orientation

It's now that I realise that's the ABS sensor not the brake line... that's what I get for staying up too late at night lol

Still begs the question of what they are on about. The brake hose looks the same on both sides so I'm not sure why they are failing that one side.

M O T testers are a law unto themselves, and what they do or dont pick up on varys with which way the winds blowing/ how they feel /and if the wife/girlfriend said yes or no the night before!/.
You can see that from the way things appear/disappear from the test depending on where you go and who does it etc!, there is a very obvious (and concerning!) lack of consistency! and the body thats supposed to police and check the testers dont seem to do very much(anything) about it.

However you have the right on collection of the vehicle to question EXACTLY ! what they mean if they have failed it, and get them to show you the component at the time which gives you the opportunity to say "WHAT exactly should i do to rectify the situation so it passes?.
Unfortunately its a mine field of inconsistency's we all have to suffer! -if your lucky enough to find a place thats fair and consistent in there testing then stick with them and let others know.

It has passed....if any worry they would have failed it bevause it is brake related.

Nothing to do with struts.

Twisted usually means , caliper removed and rotated on refiting or caliper replaced so hose twisted to get new caliper bolts to align or new hose fitted to a pipe flare nut thats seized to pipe.

If hose has lines along its length if twisted these lines form a spiral rather than being straight.

Thouse front hoses with rubber sleeve over top near pipe end have a nasty habit of rusting through under the sleeve and bursting. Worth checking.

Yes and easily rectified. You dont want stressed hoses. Is there a rubber wear buffer missing on this rubber hose where its rubbing on the strut?
