Hi

We currently have a long wheelbase high roof 2007 ducato. It has always suffered the reversing judder problem, but now the gearbox appears to have given up. This same vehicle has also suffered from the side door dropping off issue, which fiat are reluctant to help out on. It has be really disappointing the lack of help recieved from fiat. The van is coming up for 50k miles and has been fully serviced by our local fiat garage. We are based in north west Manchester and find that most of the local garages are inexperienced and ill equiped to deal with larger commercial vehicles. Is it likely that we will be able to get any assistance from fiat with the gearbox, if not are there any suggestions for affordable repairs to approach a garage to do.

You should still be under manufacturers warranty, therefore I would consider Fiat Uk customer services or somebody higher.

Failing that, trading standards.

A gearbox giving up or side loading door falling off should be covered by manufacturers warranty, unless they ( Fiat ) can prove some sort of abuse.

Thanks I thought so just get so used to being fobbed off by them it makes you question yourself. Will keep informed.

this is a big issue with motorhomes. Fiat are recalling motorhomes for clutch and gearbox problems, apparrently the reverse gear ratio is to high geared, hope this helps.

Hi
My 2007 motorhome had gearbox judder from new. I complained to Fiat got a case number then nothing. My June 2009 had the same problem complained to Fiat, got a case number, then a phone call all within the same week. Went into Walton Summit Van and Truck Preston a week later for new lower reverse gear and engine mounts. Very good job and a different vehicle to reverse.

Regards

At the minute the van is in the garage it is a clutch and a gearbox. Our local fiat garage is waitng for an engineer to come direct from fiat to asses the damage. :bang:

My 2007 X250 also has a judder problem and I obtained a case number. But I have not heard any further information from Fiat. As I will be purchasing another X250 soon, it would be nice to know if the judder has been resolved on the new vehicles.

hi iv had a lwb ducato 120 2007 from new and also had a clucth judder when reversing was going too report this and have it looked at but within 3 weeks the judder had stopped and havnt had any trouble since. now have 53000+ on the clock and clutch is just beginning to drift away.

I have an X250 motorhome same problem judder ,I rang fiat uk told them of the problem that was back in february they told me that they should be able to resolve the problem when they had done trails on the moderfication which would be arond the end of July. I spoke to them again in august and as a result they repaired my motorhome ,the moderfication was stiffer engine mount new clutch clutch damper and lower ratio reverse gear this seams to have done the trick but early days yet.
Stick with it talk to fiat be polite but be firm I think fiat will sort it out for you best of luck;).
