Punto (Mk2/2b) 2005 1.2 8 valve central locking not working??? Please help :)

Hi I have just purchased a fiat punto 1.2 8 valve dynamic 3 door on a 2005 plate and the central locking isn't working for some reason. The lights light up on the car when I try using the fob, but nothing happens and even if I use the key in the door only the drivers door opens then you have to open the passenger side by hand. Any ideas? Also the car thinks one of the doors is open all the time as the light is always on on the dash? Could this have anything to do with it and if so any ideas what this could be also?

Ok not a problem . Still none the wiser as of yet but i shall keep you updated.

If the system detects a door is open then the system will automatically unlock all the doors

I suspect what's happened is one of the door ajar sensors has broken (which is why you have the light on the dash) so some muppet instead of fixing the fault has disabled the central locking, check the fuses, check for cut wires and you might have to take the door cards off to look for the damage done by the muppet and to fix the original fault.
