Fiat Punto 1.3 Multijet

Having no end of trouble with error code P0101, engine light, poor running and crap fuel economy. Have bought new MAF sensor but fault code still appears. I've also checked everything that is supposed to be checked - pipes leads connectors etc

After reading various articles it is mentioned that if the secondary ignition wiring etc from the harness is too close to the MAF circuit then this may issue the fault code. It just so happens that there has been some major electrical work done to the car before I purchased it with just about all the wires being exposed behind the engine cover.

I'm open to any suggestions before I lose even more hair!!!!

Hello and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

Have you tried running the engine with the MAF disconnected? It should use default readings.
What make is your new MAF, and have you checked the condition of the pins in the connector to check one isnt corroded or bent. I have come across it before where one of the pins had snapped and the owner had bought 3 MAF sensors and was still getting DTC's

Hi,

Thanks for response

I'm presuming the work was to fix the fact that some 'charlie' had snapped one of the glow plug connectors leads or possibly to do with the ignition as there is a worksheet for the car regarding an ignition problem. Or it could be some other work that I waiting to discover. As for the wiring, it is still covered with its colour coded sheath but it is like spaghetti junction or it was.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for reply.

I've checked the MAF pins and the all appear okay. The new sensor is a Bosch part. I've also tried running the car with the MAF disconnected and it did slightly improve, hence making me buy the new sensor thinking the old one was faulty.

Thanks,

Spence

I'm using my own reader and I''ve reset it umpteen times and its the same code all the time - P0101 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem.
