Technical 2004 Ducato jtd crankshaft fault

hi, while fitting a new alternator to my ducato i noticed that the crankshaft pulley was very worn/almost broken in two, so i ordered and fitted a new pulley.
Van started first time and runs as well as before, however the red engine management light comes on when its started and flashes on and off while driving
i have read the ecu and it says the following fault code:


P1320-Synchronising between camshaft and crankshaft

i can clear the code but as soon as van started it comes straight back on, so am wondering if anyone has come across this and tell me what it could be.

i put a new crankshaft sensor on about 4 months ago but it is at the gearbox so a new pulley shouldnt affect it, should it.?

Crankshaft sensor probably just needs gapping properly, too far away & the ECU gets proper upset!

Check cam sensor, you may have disturbed the sensor or wiring when doing the pulley. The sensor is at the top of the cam pulley. The sensor won't be faulty, but may be out of sync, check pulley alignment, make sure you haven't disturbed cam timing if you had belts/pulleys off. If the cam sensor becomes faulty or disconnected, after the engine is started, the engine keep on running, but if it is disconnected before starting, the ECU detects this and won't allow start up.

I seem to recall an old post regarding major crankshaft end float, which caused problems with crank sensor signal. Check that also.

was issue with crank pulley when changed as well. Think it was with keyway/woodruff key but can't 100% remember:bang:

I have just had the same problem with my Ducato and found the problem to be the cam timing slightly out and the engine management being very critical.
On the bottom cambelt pulley it has a cut out which is approx twice the size of the woodruff key which helps fitment of the belt and this can move when you undo the crankshaft bolt to repace the pulley especially if the bolt was very tight.
To rectify the problem you need to time up the engine and lock it in place as though you were changing the cambelt.
Once it is correctly timed the light will go straight out.
