After owning Fords for more years than I care to remember, I was attracted to the "new" Ulysse by the design and features on it just over two years ago. I really like the car...apart from a persistent and VERY annoying problem which [I think] might be well known to some of you folk out there...
When starting from cold [and it DOES start - very well, in fact] it runs extremely 'lumpy' and noisily for about a mile. Then it is great !!! Sometimes it spits the dummy and goes into "safe mode" with the message "engine anti-poulition system faulty'. And the engine warning light shows - sometimes blinking, sometimes steady. More often than not this will 'cure itself' in a few days but I mostly have to have the code read and the fault removed by my friendly mechanic.
He's friendly but he [and many others, including a main dealer] can't seem to get to the bottom of the fault. Occasionally his code reader will show it is a random misfire, other times it says it involves Pot 3. We have replaced the HT towers and the thing that connects them all up [can't remember the correct name just now]. Plus plugs, of course. And the injector on Pot 3.
We are drawn to a wiring problem but this could be a real pain to find. You could drop dead lucky and find it right away or it could be six hours later. Knowing my luck it will be the latter.
Has anyone of you good folk out there had a similar problem or can guide us to the actual cause of the difficulty ? It would help restore my sanity if you could...
