Technical 2002 Ducato - no wipers/washer/heater fan - help!

There is a similar thread over on the Tech forum (sorry can't post a direct link as I'm a new member) - but I'm posting here in the hope that our problem gets better exposure and hopefully an answer. We're about to go away on holiday in our motorhome hence the urgency!

We have a 2002 Hymer motorhome based on 2.8 JTD Ducato.

Our problem: no wipers, no washers, no heater fan (not sure about the cigarette lighter or reversing lights [see other thread] as van currently with dealer).

All fuses have been checked and are OK.

Don’t know if it’s relevant, but our motorhome was in the dealers having a repair made to the rear bumper – bumper and rear lights removed and refitted. Raining when leaving the dealership – no wipers!

Any help much appreciated.

A follow up with a solution – hope that this helps anyone else with the same issue.

I posted my problem on one of the Motorhome Usenet groups (MH-List) and a member there directed me to a post on the motorhometoday.co.uk forum.

Here someone with the same problem has reported that a short circuit in his reversing lights had caused the F31 fuse to blow which in turn took out his wipers/washers/heater fan/cab aircon/cigarette lighter.

Why these should all be on the same circuit is beyond me – the F31 fuse is described as protecting the ‘Ignition commuter’ in my handbook.

This is exactly what has happened to me.

Sorted out the reversing light short (a bit of corrosion in the lamp cluster), replaced the F31 fuse and all is now OK.

Hope that this helps others with the same problem.
