Technical 2001 fiat Brava S 1600 petrol

On a weekly basis the idle speed will not hold at 900 rpm.The engine has
40k. on the clock. To remove the fault the ignition is switched OFF then ON again
Any advice as to what needs tested or replaced ??

As in its erratic up and down? Only up? Only down? Does it steady idle a 2Krpm?

what rpm is it at? does it only happen with the engine cold, warm or both? which engine is it?

Guessing 1600 petrol 2001 Reg by the title , Although didnt think they still made S spec ones then.

a 1600, then it will very probably be the usual idle actuator fault and/or dirty throttle body.
i dread winter, you get a dozen new threads each week with idle problems on the 1.6.
