hi
i am starting to get concerned about the cam belt
what is the service spec
mine is a second car so not doing many miles
i had the belt done when i bought it but thet was 4 years ago but only 12000 miles
does it need doing again?
i am in leicester anyone have a local place to get it done at the right price?

chris

I looked into getting a Coup, PowerFiat charge something like £400 which was alot less than what FIAT were gonna charge for the same work.

mate, dont let cost put you off.

i got to do mine and i dont care how much it will cost as if that snaps...HELLO RE-BUILD!!!

just get it done mate!

To be honest I can see why the specialists charge what they do. The cost of a cambelt, aux belts, waterpump and tensioners are pricey for Fiat items. I think the specialists then renew the antifreeze as well.

I did my own cambelt on a 20v and found it to be no more difficult than any other engine. it took a short while to unbolt the engine mounts and lever the engine over from there it was very easy. ;)
However, its one of those jobs where unless you know what you're doing, you could make a real mess of it.
Also, nothing looks better in a Coupe service book than a visit to a specialist.

The specialists state every 5 years or 36000 miles - no exceptions!

The Fiat spec was originally every 8 years or 76k miles - that is NOT a good idea....

Sounds like you've got another clear year before changing it again. Should be around £600 from a specialist, but make sure they know what they're doing!!

Gavin.
