2 things !

1. My rear window wiper has just stopped working, does anyone have any ideas without me having to take into into fiat ???

2. I have a 1.8 HLX 1998, should i have remote central locking and alarm ??? because when i press the little button on my key it doesnt lock the car, only if i actually put the key in the door .


can anyone help me ???

AMAZING!!!!!!!!. My car is exactly the same as your except (1996). My car also suffers from these two problems. I went to Fiat to enquire about the alarm and right enough I should have had one. However they were unable to tell me there and then what was wrong. They suggested the following steps

1. Get both remote keys reset (£30 each)

2. Get new siren elemant and check wiring approx (£135)

3. Or the whole system may need replacing a colosal £500 + V.A.T

I was told that if the key reseting or step 2 were not effective then I would not get a refund and so basically I could have wasted money. Not surprisingly I decided to opt out.

P.S - I was also told this was "An extremely common problem of epidemic proportions"?!?!?!?!?!

How bizarre...

My alarm problem is a bit different... 1997 R Reg 1.8

The Keys works for central locking... (Have you checked batteries / reset / taught the system etc...) but the ALARM does not set.... No flashing light / no siren / Nuffink !

Its not the 'key' in the fusebox is set to off.... I've checked that.... its just it doesn't work....

Rear wiper fix

I had the same problem on my rear wiper. Its just dirty contacts. Take the cover off the back so you can get to the electrics and just give it a squirt with switch cleaner and a wipe with a clean rag - works a treat now.
