There appears to be several posts about this problem but will add mine. While driving my motorhome last year the throttle response suddenly became very erratic.when coming off the throttle there was a delayed response resulting in sometimes having to disengage the clutch to maintain control. The idle varied from normal up to 2000 rpm. Anyway this is the culprit a 6 pin plug. Ohms reading was between 8 and 9 on each wire dropping to .5 ohms after cleaning with contact cleaner. Throttle is back to normal. I've included a photo of the fuel guage plug. If your fuel guage needle bounces up and down this needs cleaning as well.

Hi Robl,

A potentially informative first post. Please could you supply more information. Specifically is the 6 way connector that for the accelerator potentiometers?

Also as regards the fuel gauge, while I am fairly familiar with under dash wiring on my x244, I cannot place the unit shown in your photo. I have read of this problem on earlier vehicles. Perhaps yours is an x230?

You may find the following link useful, but some of the descriptions are cut short.

Hi Communicator.
Yes I think my variant is X230. The pair of plugs I refer to are behind the passenger side lower dash.5 screws to remove. The 6 wire connector is part of the accelerator potentiometer loom. The fuel guage plug is attached to the white unit and normally sits inside a metal bracket. My vehicle is left hand drive.
