Technical 2.4td rattling noise

I have a rattling noise its like its coming from the timing belt area when the car is running and you turn the steering wheel the rattling noise starts stop turning the steering wheel it stops has anyone go any ideas

i have a rattle but maybe not as bad with my punto, Si suggested the heatshield may need tightening

Auxilary belt crank pulley. Its making the noise because of the load from the power steering. Try putting on other loads like lights/heated windscreen and you may get the noise, same when the air con kicks in.

The pulley is a dual mass affair, with a rubber spline between the centre and the outer. The rubber perishes and this makes a rattle. Will cost around £100 afaik

If i was getting timing belt done is the pulley on the timing belt or is it seperate from that any photos of this pulley would be gratefull or can anyone give me a copy of the manual thanks all

They have to remove the aux belt to have the timing belt changed. Easy for them to unbolt and replace the aux pulley at the same time.

got pulley and timming belt done for £240 is this a good price
