Does anybody know how a 2.4 jtd engine would fit in a bravo (105 jtd)?
Is a lot of modding needed to fit it in?

thanks

Easily...

You just need a BIG hammer and an angle grinder ;)

Daz

It should be straight forward, they fit them in the marea which has the same engine bay...

Is the 2.4 jtd a 5cylinder?

why do you want to do this? You can get the normal jtd maped to 155bhp! so you would have a HGT basically but with great fuel and it would be faster because of the higher torque!

Paul R

yeah but you can get 210bhp and 320lb ft torque out of the 2.4 jtd :)

:) :) :) :) I think if i do keep my bravo i will have to do a swap for a 2.4jtd and you map that! that would be a monster! :) :) :) :)

The reason is indeed what Alfanige says.

The 155 BHP is that only with a remap of the chip or are any other mods needed?

I'm also thinking of a boost controller which should also bring the 1.9 to about 155-160 BHP.

I was seriously considering a 2.4 jtd engine when i had to get mine sorted, but couldn't find a 130 engine anywhere :(

Hank, that is just a remap... no other mods! he can do it for about £300 (could be a bit more!) to be honest it the most cost effective way of kicking the arse of a HGT! And he can take it higher then 155 if you really want but that is more risky! There is no risk at 155bhp (i know this because i was on the hunt for a JTD but can not find a decent one locally!)

remap

the 155 remap is basically ok but clutch will occasionally slip if throttle floored in 4th/5th from about 40mph. Mine does anyway. But normally not a prob. The 170 remap he put on was totally unusable in mine as the clutch just couldn't handle the extra power and torque. That's why I want the uprated clutch. Get this and the car would be AWESOME.

Forget the 2.4JTD engine in the Bravo the std engine remapped will give you every opportunity to lose your licence. Still the money you save on fuel you could use to pay your fines.....

Re: remap

A quote from Paul R - 'Hank, that is just a remap... no other mods! he can do it for about £300 (could be a bit more!) to be honest it the most cost effective way of kicking the arse of a HGT!'

So what Paul is saying is a 150bhp JTD will kick the arse of an HGT?

Can anyone vouch for this? a 150bhp golf Mk4 TDI is slower to 60 than any HGT - on paper at least. So how on earth is a 150hpJTD going to kick its arse? id agree it would get up a steep hill quicker but even then, it wont by much providing the HGT driver is using 4000rpm and above.

were you just joking Paul?

Re: remap

The VW has a 6 speed box, lots of gear changes means slow 0-60.

Re: remap

Well Thomas I have a remapped Punto JTD that is quicker than my Bravo HGT 155 and that only running a hundred and thirhiiewdhg ish :)
We can make the Bravo JTD quicker than the HGT in standard form, sorry guys :(

Re: remap

Not sure what Nige's punto was set to, but it kicked my HGT's arse...i realise the weight difference, but i still think it would have beaten it :(

jtd

I easily out paced a 53 plate Punto HGT about 3 weeks ago in my
remapped Bravo. The road was flat and I was behind coming out of a large roundabout, but then as we hit about 50mph I just had bags more in reserve to overtake him. I even surprised myself I went by so easily. Boy his engine was revving and the look on his face as I sailed by..........was worth a picture.

Nige's Punto

Nige's Punto is quick........ He took me for a ride.
It easily left an MGZT behind.

Re: remap

erm 1st-2nd-3rd to 60 either way Tom (or 1st-2nd redline if you forget to change up ;) )
